Toyota City, Aichi
This city of about 400,000 people is best known as the home of the world-renown Toyota Motor Corporation. This includes the head office, seven manufacturing plants and two permanent showcase exhibition centers, Toyota Hall and the Toyota Kuragaike Memorial Hall detailing the history and innovated spirit of Toyota. There are also civic, welfare and sports facilities for employees located throughout Toyota city.
In 2007, Toyota Motor Corporation became the worlds largest automaker by sales revenue. The company was started by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1933 as an offshoot of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Company to make automobiles.
For the 50th anniversary of the creation of Toyota city, the multiple use Toyota stadium was built in 2001 with a 45,000 seating capacity and construction based on FIFA standards. Designed for soccer, American football and rugby as well as concerts, this is a state of the art facility.
In 2005, with Toyotas support, the Aichi Expo took place for 185 days with the theme "Nature's Wisdom" drawing over 22 million visitors.
